Smart Friction is the deliberate resistance placed between urgency and action. It slows the system just enough to reveal what the hurry was hiding.
In fog, ships reduce speed because motion without visibility is not courage. At the poker table, a pause can prevent one bad beat from becoming a bad session. In a life transition, silence can distinguish a dead end from a threshold.
The buffer may be doing protective work. It may be interrupting a script that no longer deserves automatic execution.
Slow enough to see. Clear enough to choose. Brave enough to proceed.
